Minister Monica Babuc had a meeting with the World Bank Country Manager for Moldova, Anna Akhalkatsi

Today, on 20 September, Minister of Education, Culture and Research, Monica Babuc, had a meeting with the World Bank Country Manager for Moldova, Anna Akhalkatsi. The main subject of the discussions was the implementation of the ,,Skills for Jobs” Project, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research.

 

At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Monica Babuc expressed his gratitude for World Bank’s constant support provided to the Republic of Moldova in the field of education and welcomed the idea of implementation a project that foresees the development of the competences of graduates of higher education institutions for employment. ,,One of the priority objectives of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research is the formation of the skills and abilities necessary for university graduates so that they can be realized professionally, and the labor market to not lead to a shortage of skilled workers in the future. Therefore, implementing such a project is beneficial to both the educational system and the business environment”, said the official.

 

In turn, Anna Akhalkatsi thanked for receptivity, mentioning about the necessity of conjugation the efforts for developing an effective vocational guidance system for graduates of higher education institutions in the Republic of Moldova.

 

The concept developed by the Minister of Education, Culture and Research on the implementation of the ,,Skills for Jobs” Project, provides the creation and the testing of viable mechanisms for identifying the labor market needs; the creation and the launching the ,,E-Admission" Information System; the establishment of the National Council for Statistics and Prognosis of Higher Education;  the reconfiguration of the National Qualifications Framework; the creation of the National Labor Inspection Council for Graduates of Higher Education and the Engineering Training and Innovation Center, etc.

 

At the end, the parties agreed to continue the dialogue and work together to identify solutions to remedy the situation in the field.
